There are many types of screw extractor pliers but my favorite are Engineers PZ-58 screw removal pliers for extracting small screws and Knipex TwinGrip Pliers for larger screws. They have a front gripping notch on the jaws with vertical serrations that enable you to grip the head of a stuck or stripped screw firmly while holding the pliers upright.
