Laura O’Brien: I’m Laura O’Brien and I’ll be playing Morticia. I’m seventeen so I’m looking at colleges now and college auditions! Laura O’Brien Laura O'Brien I’m the head student director there so I’ve done In the Heights, Footloose, Aida- I recently played Amneris in Aida. They were both fab productions! Oh gosh, what else have I done? I do a lot of stuff at my high school. I did that show for seven months out of this year, it was pretty fantastic but it was two different productions. You may have seen me previously in KAT’s (Kensington Arts Theatre) production of Les Miserables as Eponine or at Montgomery College Summer Dinner Theatre’s production of Les Miserables as the Eponine understudy and in the ensemble. Miss Wednesday, let’s start with you! Camryn Shegogue Dylan ThaiĬamryn Shegogue: Oh gosh! I’m really bad with interviews! But okay…hi! I’m Camryn Shegogue and I’m playing Wednesday Addams in The Addams Family. We’ll start off with introductions, so if you could tell the readers of TheatreBloom who you are, who you are in the show, and where they might have seen you on stage in the last year or so in the area, that would be great. Because you’re too legit to quit.” Amen.Moving further toward the darkness in Part II of TheatreBloom’s 3-part family interview series with the Kensington Arts Theatre’s projection of The Addams Family, we meet The Addam as only we can meet them! Representing the “dead” in the trio of “Living…dead…and undecided…” Morticia, Gomez, Wednesday and Pugsley all come out to play in a creepy and kooky fashion. Praying with James Brown’s words, “Never give up. No matter how ill-equipped or insecure you feel, receive the Gift, infused into every part of your being, then “go out and give it all you’ve got!” No matter what people say about you, remember who you are-a legitimate image of God-so you don’t quit. Go out and give it all you’ve got!” For the remainder of the video, Hammer performs the song while energy flames emerge from him and spread around the world, gifting it to others.Īs we await Jesus’ arrival, let’s glean wisdom from this catchy throwback. He doesn’t know who he is.” Later, questioning his own readiness, Hammer approaches the Godfather of Soul, James Brown, who hurls flames of energy into Hammer’s body and says, “Now you’ve received the gift. The newscaster speculates, “I know why he quit. It begins with a mock news bulletin announcing that Hammer’s quitting. I recently rewatched the celebrity-filled, over-fourteen-minute music video. Years beyond popularity, the phrase became a mantra that carried me through rough times. Indeed, my peers and I often expressed it with the accompanying hand motions. When the chorus arrived, I’d boisterously belt out, “Too legit to quit!” That title phrase became a steady part of my language diet. During the unintelligible parts, the song’s music and energy always coaxed my body to dance (not quite like Hammer, though my efforts were noble). The only lyrics I know are in the title, which was sufficient apparently. In 1991, Hammer released his hit song, 2 Legit 2 Quit. God gives a hand to those down on their luck, gives a fresh start to those ready to quit. ![]() Our Church’s Wider Mission Basic Support.Subscriptions at the United Church of Christ. The Pollinator: UCC Environmental Justice Blog.Ministerial Excellence, Support & Authorization (MESA).The Faith Education, Innovation and Formation (Faith INFO)Team. The Pilgrim Press & Stillspeaking Publications.Office of Public Policy & Advocacy in Washington D.C.About The Center for Analytics, Research & Development, and Data (CARDD).Center for Analytics, Research & Development and Data (CARDD). ![]() Office of the General Minister & President.Statement of Faith of the United Church of Christ – La Declaración de Fe de la Iglesia Unida de Cristo. ![]() The Council for Health and Human Services Ministries.
